How to calculate cleaning contract profit
Enter the monthly amount your customer pays, the paid cleaning hours, the hourly staff cost, employer extras and other job expenses. The calculator estimates your monthly costs, profit and profit margin, then suggests a price for your chosen target margin.
Example: an office cleaning contract
Suppose a customer pays £1,200 per month. Your team works 50 hours at £12 per hour, employer extras add 20% and supplies and travel cost £100. Estimated costs are £820 (£720 staffing plus £100 other costs), leaving £380 monthly profit, or about a 31.7% margin. These are example figures, not recommended wage rates or quotes.
Frequently asked questions
How is profit margin calculated? Estimated profit is customer payments minus staff and other costs. Profit margin is estimated profit divided by customer payments, multiplied by 100.
How do I calculate a price for my target margin? Divide your estimated monthly costs by (1 minus your target margin as a decimal). A 25% target margin means dividing costs by 0.75.
Does the calculator include VAT, tax and all overheads? No. Include relevant job costs in your estimates and check tax, payroll and other obligations separately.
